Faith Volunteers in the Community at Christmas

KETTLE SITTING:Kathy Sellers and David Wentzell led a challenge that encouraged Faith volunteers to "kettle sit" for the Milton Salvation Army for 300 hours. Everyone donating at least 10 hours of their time is invited to Kathy & David's for a celebration party.

TOY SORTING: Faith volunteers also spent a lot of time at the Milton Salvation Army Family Services sorting toys and other gifts for the Christmas deliveries to help everyone have a merry Christmas.

CHRISTMAS STORE at WESLEY URBAN MINISTRIES in Hamilton: Ruth Parkinson led a group of Faith volunteers to spend a day at the Christmas Store for patrons of the Wesley Urban Ministry in Hamilton. This ministry provides Christmas gifts and food for children, youth and adults living in poverty.

CHRISTMAS MEAL: Every year Milton Area Christian Churches prepares and serves a Christmas meal to the patrons of the Milton Food Bank. Faith volunteers are a huge part of this effort. Faith Outreach purchases the turkeys (150 lbs) with Kathy Sellers as the organizer of that effort purchasing the frozen turkeys on "special" and then stashing them in freezers all over time until it was time to cook them. Faith volunteers roasted most of those turkeys as well, and delivered the meat slices and warm just in time for the meal. This year the turkey roasters were: Louise Prevost, Ruth , Parkinson, Ione Cox, Val Dransfield,  Judy Chartrand, Brenda Morrow, David Wentzell, Shirley Dusmet, Mona Hummel, Mavis O'Neil, Carol Hyde, and Ann Sault. Faith volunteers were front and centre in serving the meal as well: Barb McFarlane, Carrie Wentzel, Gretchen Greene O’Brien, Kathy Sellers , Kelly Crowther, Louise Prevost, Ruth Parkinson, Shirley & Tom Dusmet, Sylvia McFarlane. Lorna Turner did a lot of the advance work for the meal, recruiting and scheduling the volunteers

Christmas Cake & Pudding Fundraiser for Food Bank and Hospital

Louise Prevost led a group of Faith volunteers in a Christmas project to honour Marie White. Suzanne Watts, Mary Judge, Sheila McBride, Mary Walker, Kathy Sellers and Louise Prevost used Marie's fruit cake recipe to bake Christmas cakes, which they then sold to the Faith congregation. In addition, the group also made Christmas puddings from Louise's mother's family recipe and sold those as well. In all, they raised over $600 which was donated to the Milton Salvation Army Food Bank and to the Milton District Hospital in Marie White's honour.
