FAITH UNITED TEAM for COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR WALK – Saturday, February 21 from 5-8pm
On February 21, Milton Transitional Housing (MTH) hosted the Coldest Night of the Year walk, a national fundraising event held in 80-plus cities across Canada. Milton’s walk supports MTH’s work here in Milton with people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Suzanne Watts was the “team captain” for Faith United’s team this year, with a goal to raise $2,000.The team blew by that goal early in the lead-up to the walk and ended as TOP TEAM with more than $3,000 raised. Way to go, Faith!
But that's not the end of the Faith family involvement. Bob Walker, as a Director on the MTH Board, was team captain for the "Friends of MTH" team which included Mary Walker and Tom Dusmet – both from Faith as well. The "Friends" team brought in another $2500-plus to support Milton Transitional Housing, and Tom won the TOP WALKER spot raising a whopping $1,170 all by himself! WooHoo! Way to go Tom!
And, of course, we had many volunteers from Faith involved in organizing and running the event: Bill & Mary Judge brought the travelling Faith sound system and wired the room for sound. Kathy Sellers was on the hard-working registration team, Ruth Parkinson helped with the food team, and Lorna Turner was on the organizing team.
